Financial literacy is critical in enabling young people to learn how to manage money and make the most of their financial circumstances. Today’s teenagers are tomorrow’s adults. Their ability to lead financially healthy lives deserves positive and proactive support.
That’s why we invest in our bank-wide financial education programme for young people, the largest and longest-running schools programme in Ireland and the UK. The programme provides a range of free, online, interactive learning resources tailored to meet the needs of students from the age of 5 to 18.Through teaching an understanding of money, debt, credit, earning and saving, we can give the next generation the ability to make their own financial decisions, leading to greater choice and freedom in adult life.
We re-designed MoneySense in 2015, introducing a range of new content for both primary and secondary students to ensure its sustainability as an online teacher-led education resource accessible to all schools at www.mymoneysense.com. Teachers can also request a volunteer to visit their school and support them in delivering a MoneySense session. The new programme includes for the first time resources for parents and carers, who consistently tell us they want tips and new ideas to help them teach children about money using examples from everyday living at home.
MoneySense has won five prestigious CSR & Education a number of Corporate Social Responsibility awards in recent years:
