Why choose a Green Mortgage?

If you want to purchase an energy efficient home, or carry out some energy saving work to your existing property we would love to help. The Green Mortgage has a fixed rate for 4 years and offers a lower rate of interest than our existing 4 year fixed rate mortgage. We will ask you for a copy of the Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate of your property before you take out or switch to a Green Mortgage. You could be eligible if you:

need a mortgage to build or buy your home* that has a Building Energy Rating between A1 and B2 

*Private Dwelling Home mortgage

 

 

have an existing mortgage with us with more than 5 years left to repay and your home has a Building Energy Rating between A1 and B2

 

already have a mortgage with us and you want to borrow more to bring your home up to a Building Energy Rating between A1 and B2 

 

€1,500 towards your legal fees

What's the offer?

  • Offer is available across the Ulster Bank residential and buy to let mortgage product range.
  • Mortgage application must be submitted by 31st December 2020.
  • €1,500 payment as a contribution to your legal fees will be made into the current account from which your mortgage payment is made after mortgage drawdown. This amount is fixed and will not change if your legal fees are higher or lower.

 

Who is eligible?
 

  • Any customer taking a new mortgage, including first time buyers, home movers, switchers and buy to let
  • Minimum mortgage amount is €40,000 for residential and €50,000 for buy to let
  • Where existing customers are taking a Top Up on their mortgage, or moving to a 10 year ECB tracker rate, they can avail of the offer so long as they are borrowing at least an additional €40,000 at our fixed or variable rates, and the new Loan to Value will be no more than 90%.

Otherwise, the offer excludes customers taking 10 year ECB tracker rates, top up / further advance, offset mortgages, negative equity rates, or seeking only to transfer title.

Important information

 
  • The Green Mortgage has a fixed rate for 4 years.
  • When your fixed rate mortgage expires you will revert to a follow on variable rate unless you choose from any other mortgage product that you may be offered at this time
  • You will be required to provide a copy of the BER certificate for the property before you take out/switch the mortgage.
  • A BER certificate is valid for 10 years. There may be a cost associated with obtaining a BER certificate, please refer to seai.ie for further information.
