Important information before you apply

 

By applying online you can receive approval in principle straight away and collect your application pack in your local branch the next working day. As part of the online application, we may ask you for proof of identity, your most recent address, to verify that you have been in continuous employment for 6 months and also to provide evidence of your Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) / Tax Reference Number. You may be invited to complete your application via DigiDocs (our secure online portal). If so follow the instructions in the invite email or text.

To apply online you must:

 

be aged 18 or over and permanently resident in the Republic of Ireland

be an existing Ulster Bank current account customer

be in full time, continuous employment for more than 6 months

 provide your Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) or Tax Reference Number (TRN). Please have this to hand when you apply.

provide a valid contact telephone number. You can provide your landline number when you apply. If you use Anytime Internet Banking, please ensure your mobile number is up to date before you apply.  You can amend your number in the “Your Details” section of Anytime Internet Banking, or call us or visit your branch to do so. 

Unfortunately we are unable to help if you have been declared bankrupt or received a Court Decree.

In accordance with European Banking Authority (EBA) guidelines you will not be eligible to receive a Covid-19 payment break following draw down of your  Personal Loan.  After draw down should you find yourself in financial difficulty and in a position where you need a payment break or payment reduction, this request will be managed by the Arrears Support Unit (ASU)  under the Consumer Protection Code.  If this request is agreed by the Bank and applied to the loan, it will be reported to credit rating agencies and will impact your credit history and this may affect your ability to borrow money in the future.
