Set up, change or cancel a standing order

What's a standing order?

A standing order is an automatic regular payment but the amount debited is fixed. You set it up and only you can change it – for example, only you can change the amount taken or payment date. Rent or mortgage payments are often paid by standing order. You can also set up a standing order to your savings account if you want to save regularly.


Standing orders function in a similar way to Direct Debits. The main difference is the ability to set up, manage, amend and cancel a standing order at any time you like! It is now easier than ever to manage your standing orders through Anytime Banking. You can now access standing orders make changes from your computer or mobile where ever you are in the world. Just make sure you have your card reader.

Create a standing order

A standing order is when you tell us to pay a fixed amount to someone straight from your account at regular intervals. The money is taken from your account automatically on a fixed date and will show up on your statement. Standing orders can be easily created in Anytime Banking all you will need are the details for the account receiving the money and your card reader.

Change and amend a standing order

The main difference between Direct Debits and standing orders is that because you have set it up you have the freedom to change and amend a standing order whenever you like. You can alter the amount currently being sent, change the frequency even change the account details. All of these can be done through your Anytime Banking.

Cancel a standing order

Standing orders can be quickly and easily cancelled or temporarily stopped for a certain amount of time through your Anytime Banking.

As a standing order can be created or instructed by yourself, once the money leaves your account it can not be recalled.

If your standing order is due within 48 hours we will send you an email to confirm that it has been cancelled, so please make sure that we have your correct email address on file.
