Smartphone Payments
With Apple Pay and Google Pay we can offer you safe, fast and simple ways to pay for every day items such as a newspaper or a coffee, using your mobile.
Smartphone Payments available on Ulster Bank debit cards and credit cards. Limits from retailers may apply. Apple Pay available on selected Apple devices. Google Pay available on selected Android devices.
You’ll be charged a transaction fee of €0.01 (Contactless) or €0.20 (in app transactions) if you do not meet the current account fee and charges waiver criteria. Find out more about our current account fees and charges.
Facial Recognition
This is available on the iPhone X only. The Face ID technology allows you to log in to our mobile app by simply using your face. It works by the camera on the phone capturing accurate face data. Ulster Bank were the first bank in Ireland to introduce this function. This safe and secure function will provide you with even more convenience while banking on the Ulster Bank app.
Text Alerts
Keep yourself updated anywhere, anytime with Activity, Weekly balance and On Demand text alerts.
Mobile Banking
Our app is simple, clever and easy to use – you can even use it to withdraw cash at our cash machines and make payments to someone new without needing a card reader. Available to customers with Anytime Banking and a Republic of Ireland mobile number.

Get Cash
Get Cash allows you to quickly choose an amount of cash that you would like to withdraw from within the app.
We will then provide you with a secure cash code that will be valid for 3 hours and can be used at any Ulster Bank cash machine to withdraw your money. You can use this cash code yourself or text it to someone else.
This service can only be used twice a day and you can only have one cash code at any one time. If the code expires, the funds will re-credit your account within 24 hours.
Important Information:
- Get Cash allows a maximum withdrawal limit of €130 every 24 hours and this must be within the daily withdrawal limit for your debit card.
- There is a maximum limit of 2 Get Cash withdrawals per day.
- You must have at least €10 available funds to withdraw from your account (including any overdraft facility).
- We must have your correct mobile number in our records.
- You must have an active debit card for your account.
- You’ll be charged €0.35 for each ATM cash withdrawal in Euro within SEPA (including Get Cash transactions) if you do not meet the current account fees and charges waiver criteria. For more information please visit our current account fees and charges page.
Get Cash is available on iPhone and Android devices.
You can use Get Cash as soon as you activate your app for the service. You can find out how to do this on our 'getting started' page.
Emergency Cash
If your card is lost or stolen our Emergency Cash service ensures you can access your money from our cash machines. You can withdraw up to €300 if you are an Anytime Banking customer, or up to €60 if you’re not. You need to have €25 in your account to use the service.
You’ll be charged €0.35 for each ATM cash withdrawal in Euro within SEPA (including Emergency Cash transactions) if you don't meet the current account fees and charges waiver criteria. For more information please visit our current account fees and charges page.
Visa Debit Card
Withdraw cash and make purchases in store and online. Stamp Duty applies.

Flexibility when you need it, subject to credit review and approval.
Spending
Spending is a feature that automatically places your personal current account transactions into categories, so you can get a detailed picture of where you money goes every month.
With Spending, your transactions will be automatically put into one of our twelve categories, to show a clearer picture of how you spend your money.

To make Spending suit you even more, you can manually change the category of any transaction once it’s fully cleared to your account.
You must be aged 16+ and hold a personal current account to see the Spending tab in your Mobile App. Spending is only available for current accounts. App available to customers with Anytime Banking using compatible iOS and Android devices and a Republic of Ireland or international mobile number in specific countries.
Freeze your Debit card
If you’ve misplaced your debit card, or want to stop it from being used, you can temporarily freeze it to protect from unauthorised use. You can freeze it instantly using our Mobile Banking app – giving you greater control and peace of mind when you need it most.
Store Your Loyalty Cards
Our Mobile App gives you the option to store your Loyalty or membership cards in a secure and safe way. Simply scan the barcode and select which store it belongs to. You can choose from many pre-set high street stores or add any that are not there already.
You will see the My Loyalty Cards section when you log on to our Mobile App.
An overdraft is repayable on demand and may not be exceeded without prior permission. If you exceed your overdraft limit, surcharge interest in addition to debit interest will be applied to any amount over the authorised limit. A €2 monthly maintenance fee and transaction fees apply to the Current Account.
We charge transaction fees for:
- Debit card transactions
- Automated transactions
- ATM withdrawals
- In branch and counter transactions
- Contactless transactions
You can avoid paying transaction fees by maintaining a minimum cleared balance of €3,000 in your account at all times during each charging cycle. You will pay the €2 monthly maintenance fee.
If you are aged 66 or over, you will not pay the monthly maintenance fee or transaction fees.
Fees and charges will be applied to your account each month. You can find more information on our charging cycles in our booklet A Guide to Personal Account Fees and Interest.
If the amount of your monthly fee and transaction fees is €4 or more each month, we’ll send you a pre-notification of charges statement to let you know how much you’ll be charged, at least 10 business days before we apply any fees.

Moving your account to us is easy, simply tell us that you want to switch when completing your account application. Our dedicated switching team will do all the hard work for you. We'll:
- Transfer your salary to your new account
- Set up your standing orders and request the set-up of your Direct Debits
- Transfer any credit balance from your old account
And we'll do it all within ten working days.
