  • Share purchase
  • Purchase of property or land overseas;
  • Deposit for the purchase of property or land including mortgage, either in Ireland or overseas;
  • Repaying or reducing a mortgage either in Ireland or overseas;
  • Mortgage arrears either in Ireland or overseas;
  • Investment in a business venture;
  • Gambling and/or repayment of a gambling debt;
  • Illegal/unethical purposes;
  • Home Improvement Loans for rented properties.  Available to home owners only.

To apply you will need to be:

  • Aged 18 or over

  • Permanently resident in Republic of Ireland

  • An existing Ulster Bank current account customer

  • Unfortunately we are unable to help if you have been declared bankrupt or received a Court Decree.

You can apply to borrow any amount from €2,500 to €75,000. For loan applications over €40,000 and up to €75,000 please give our Customer Support Team a call on 1890 587 587.  Lines are open Monday to Friday 8.30 am – 8 pm and Saturday 9 am – 3 pm. Calls may be recorded and  costs will vary according to your network provider and whether you call from a landline or mobile.


If you are applying for the purpose of refinancing existing Ulster Bank debt, we will accept loan applications from €1,500 to €2,499.

Icon expand What can I borrow money for?

You can borrow for a range of purposes for example a new car, home improvements or to fund your child's university education.

If you're planning to use the loan for more than one purpose, simply select the purpose that will take up more than 50% of the loan. For example, if you're borrowing €11,000 split between a car for €6,000 and home improvements for €5,000, you should select 'Car' as the purpose of your loan.

Your loan funds will normally be in your account within 48 hours of us receiving your completed application and supporting documentation (if needed), provided that you meet all of our lending requirements.

How can I provide my supporting documents?

 

Online/Over the phone

Once your application is submitted online, we may invite you to complete and e-sign your application via our secure online portal. As part of this, you may also be asked to provide supporting documentation e.g. payslips to validate income, passport as proof of ID or a utility bill as proof of address.

 

In Branch

Simply visit your local branch to complete your application, bringing with you’re the supporting documents which will be validated by the branch staff.

 

By Post

Please return your documents and your signed application form using the freepost envelope in your application pack. If you are sending copies of documents they will need to be validated and stamped by a branch staff member first before sending to us by post.

You need to be an existing customer and registered for Anytime Internet Banking to apply for a Personal Loan online. You'll need your online banking customer number ready when you apply.

 

If you need a consolidation loan, an amount over €40k, or you are self employed, please follow the steps below.

  • You will need your PPSN and you may need details from ID and Address verification documents
  • Sometimes we might need to ask you for information to confirm your identity and address, so it would be helpful to have your passport or driving licence and a utility bill available when you call us.
