*You need to to register for Anytime Banking to be able to access your funds and manage your account online, via mobile banking, or over the telephone. When you are making a transfer through Anytime Internet & Telephone Banking, the limits will be advised to you. If you prefer not to register you can manage your account through the branch network. 

Common questions

If I apply online or on the mobile app, how soon will my new savings account be open?

If you are an existing Ulster Bank customer :

We'll try to open your account on the same day you complete your application. Your new account will appear on Anytime Internet Banking or on the mobile app within 1 working day, with the exception of our Fixed Term deposit account which is not available to view online or via the app. Occasionally you may need to provide us with proof of your identity or address but we'll let you know at the end of your application if we need some more information from you.


If you:

  • are an existing customer but we are unable to open an account straight after your application
  • are an existing customer applying in joint names 
  • don't already have an Ulster Bank account

We’ll try to complete your application digitally via Digidocs (our secure online portal). If you are eligible to upload your documentation electronically you’ll receive an e-mail or text message on the next working day after you apply, inviting you to complete your application via DigiDocs. Follow the instructions provided in the invite in order to complete your application as quickly as possible. We can then complete further checks and progress your application the next working day. If you are required to complete and upload any further documentation after this stage, we will let you know.


Even if you are eligible to complete your application electronically, you will still receive an application pack in the post, however this can take up to a week to reach you. If you decide to progress your application via Digidocs then you don't need to respond to this pack.






I didn't receive an email / text to progress my application electronically, what happens now ?

Unfortunately it is not always possible to complete your application electronically so we'll send you an application pack in the post detailing exactly what documents we require. It can take up to a week for the pack to reach you. 


As soon as you've received your pack you can visit your local branch with the requested paperwork to complete your application and open your new account or you can return your documents along with your signed application form using the freepost envelope. Your documents will need to be certified first. You can find out more about the documentation we can accept here.


If you are progressing your application by post your new account will be open within 48 hours of us receiving all of the requested documentation.
